The Oriental Cultural Demeanor is a residential house that exudes tranquility and elegance. Designed by Lo Shih Che, this unique space combines oriental cultural elements with modern aesthetics to create a harmonious living environment.
One of the standout features of this design is the use of understated colors throughout the interior. This creates a foursquare and poised environment, allowing the focus to be on the carefully curated artworks strategically placed throughout the space. These artworks embody the concept of introducing art to everyday life, crystallizing in a tranquil and elegant living space.
The vestibule of the Oriental Cultural Demeanor is adorned with dark-colored rock veneers, creating a rugged and cavern-like appearance. The glazed ceramic artworks on the suspended marble counter add a dazzling burst of color, forming stark contrasts without disrupting the overall oriental cultural demeanor.
Each bedroom in the house features a small study area, providing a peaceful and exquisite leisure space. The fusion of fabric, glossy, and wallpaper materials adds depth and texture to the rooms, creating a sense of warmth and comfort.
The dining and kitchen area showcases the designer's creativity and attention to detail. Hardware and symmetrically designed, diamond-shaped wooden panels are used to create modern-looking partitions with artistic flair. The kitchen countertop is represented by a cloud pattern stone bar countertop, ensuring consistency in materials. The dining room features a simple long table adorned with crystal lighting fixtures, creating a functional and visually appealing space.
The Oriental Cultural Demeanor project was completed in July 2018 in Taichung City, Taiwan. Throughout the design process, the designer faced challenges in creating a cohesive and regal ambiance in the public area, which includes the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Vibrant yet understated reddish-grey marble sets the tone for the room, while an elegant sofa defines the living room area. Symmetrical sliding doors crafted from white cloud pattern stone conceal the entrances on both sides, maintaining a smooth flow. An independent TV wall constructed with white cloud pattern rock separates the different areas while adding visual interest.
The Oriental Cultural Demeanor has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award honors designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
The Oriental Cultural Demeanor is a testament to Lo Shih Che's talent and vision, showcasing the beauty of oriental cultural elements in a modern residential setting. With its tranquil ambiance and artistic flair, this design offers a unique and inspiring living experience.
